So Long, Mini-Van

With over 10 hours of driving between two of us (guess), the trip home is nearly complete and the show is now ending. A special thanks to all who made this historic 4 day event possible, with the specific mention to the man of the trip himself, hp. See you on the next go-round.

Hp and I took the gas in our first round of action on Friday evening. Neither one of us played particularly well and we lost a very winnable match, but that is tennis. Saturday saw both teams in the feed-in consolations where the outcome was no better. Mjp and hp lost to a pretty good team (not as good as the first day) and then hp and I followed suit that afternoon, though we did play much better. 5 more years and we get the super-seniors.

6-2,6-1. I thought mjp was going to hit hp at one point, probably a good thing the match has ended

At 6-2, 3-0 down, my prediction has been shown to unfortunately be correct. The boys are still fighting hard, even switching sides for return of serve in the second set. This one is just a case of going up against a better younger team.

MJP and hp are now on the court in their first round match. By the looks of things they will not do well as the other team looks very impressive. Maybe I am wrong, but I doubt it.

I love what Daniel Escher is doing.

Danny EschAfter coming back from the apple, we met Daniel and his theologians (great name for a band) at the local Trenton watering hole/bowing alley where they often go for their Karaoke fix. Daniel, as one would expect, did not disappoint and let it all hang out there for Total Eclipse of the Heart. We shared a few beverages and visited to the sounds of Idol wannabes and enjoyed some of Trenton’s good people. It was rich for the soul.

MJP and I took the train to NYC from Trenton sans hp. We ate lunch at a ery good Vietnamese spot at 22nd and 2nd named Bao.

We oth ordered lunch specials consisting of spring roll app with noodle bowls for the main course. I ordered the traditional beef with a lemongrass broth and mjp got a Vietnamese take on Beef Stew. The entire meal was outstanding and on a cold drizzly New York day, it filled our bellies with warm goodness.
